The sheep club was extremely successful at the 90th Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. Competing against 101 young people from Ontario and Quebec, each one of our members did our club and community proud.
In their respective heats for showmanship, Nicole Shelley (Intermediate) and Helen Grubb (Junior) made the top 5 for their heat, taking them further on to the final heats where Helen Placed 10th out of the original class of 42 and Nicole placed 7th out of her original class of 28. Sarah Weatherhead placed 2nd in the Novice showmanship class, taking her to the Champion Showmanship class. Also in the Novice showmanship class, Olivia Schlosser placed 7th and Katie Schlosser placed 11th. In the Junior class, Alexa Ward placed 8th in her heat, and Allison Pepper placed 8th in her heat of Intermediates.
In confirmation, Olivia Schlosser placed 2nd in the Any Other Breed with her Dorper, with Helen Grubb taking 4th, Gabbi Schlosser taking 6th, Melissa Cole taking 7th and Katie Schlosser taking 9th. Nicole Shelley placed 3rd in the Longwool class with Alexa Ward winning 5th. Michelle Cole placed 8th in the Dorset class, and Marcus Perkins placed 11th in the Suffolk class.
Other members competing from the Hanover 4-H sheep club were Muriah Nicholl, Justin Weatherhead, Valerie Robinson and Travis Perkins. Congratulations to all the members who showed, you did yourselves, your club, and your community proud.
Also doing her club and community proud, Nicole Shelley showed in the Royal’s 4-H Rabbit show. She placed 1st in the Senior Showmanship class, 2nd in the Judging class, 2nd in the Fancy rabbit conformation class, and 6th in the Standard rabbit conformation class. Nicole also won Champion Rabbit Showman, and received trophies for her 1st and 2nd placings. Congratulations on your achievement Nicole.
